Why was the chainsaw invented? 

As mentioned before, the invention of the chainsaw is interesting. Two Scottish surgeons were the inventors behind the chainsaw. The invention of the device took place before the 16th century. Furthermore, the main reason for its invention is cutting through human bone. T

The inspiration behind the invention of chainsaw 

Woman has always had a tough time during childbirth. However, before the invention of modern medicine childbirth was bad. In earlier times there was no concept of c-section. Babies were born by passing through the birth canal. However, sometimes due to narrow space babies couldn’t pass through the birth canal. Hence, doctors cut through the parts of the bone to help the baby pass through. 

The removing of cartilage or pelvic bone is symphysiotomy. Further, this procedure was painful. It also resulted in a lot of messy. Furthermore, the procedure took place during childbirth. A woman had to suffer a lot during this procedure. In the initial stages, doctors used a small knife to do this procedure. Further, the cutting used to take place without anesthesia. Hence, this led to the invention of a chainsaw.

How did chainsaws help in childbirth? 

As mentioned before, symphysiotomy was a medical procedure in childbirth. During this procedure cartilage and parts of bone was cut. The main reason for this procedure was to help the baby pass through the birth canal. However, the procedure was messy and painful. So, the two surgeons were looking for a better way. This led to the invention of a chainsaw. But the chainsaw used in the medical procedure was different. It was tiny with a small blade. The device helped in cutting the bone better than before. However, it led to infections and the death of a woman in childbirth. 

A note on the inventors of chainsaws 

As stated previously, the chainsaw was invented by two doctors. It was invented by two Scottish doctors. The name of the inventors was John Aitken and James Jeffery. Furthermore, John Aitken was a surgeon in the Royal Infirmary. It is in Edinburg. In addition to practicing medicine, he also gave medical lectures. John was also looking for ways to make improvements. He mainly concentrated on improving surgery techniques. One such invention of John Aitken was a chainsaw. 

On the other hand, John had a partner in inventing the chainsaw. His name is James Jeffery. Further, James Jeffery was very intelligent. He was the chairman of Anatomy and Botany at Glasgow University.

To sum it up, Why was the chainsaw invented, earlier used in childbirth. It was invented by two Scottish surgeons. The names of the surgeons are John Aitken and James Jeffery. The invention of the chainsaw took place in the year 1830. However, by the 20th century, the tool evolved. It was later used outside medicine.
